Applications accepted for Rogers Scholars

Applications will be accepted through Jan. 31 for students seeking to apply for 2009 classes of Rogers Scholars or the Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (ELI), two summer youth programs sponsored by The Center for Rural Development . Both are leadership training programs, with ELI focusing on developing skills for future business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Rogers Scholars is an intensive one-week summer session for rising high school juniors in The Center’s primary 42-county service area.

Graduates of Rogers Scholars are also eligible to apply for college scholarships from 13 participating Kentucky colleges and universities.

Sixty students from throughout the region will be selected to represent their home counties as Rogers Scholars this year in two, one-week summer sessions planned for June 28- July 3 and July 12-17.

High school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors with a specific interest in business and entrepreneurship are encouraged to apply for ELI. The one-week summer program focuses on creativity and teamwork, and building business and leadership skills.

Applications for both programs are available on The Center’s web site at www.centertech.com, or by contacting Jessica Melton, associate director of education and training, at 606-677-6000 or via e-mail at jmelton@centertech.com. Applications must be postmarked by Jan. 31.
