Area schools get PRIDE grants

PRIDE, Inc., a non profit organization that promotes environmental cleanup and education across the region, has given $5,900 in Environmental Education Contracts to four local schools.

Beckham Bates Elementary School received $1,500 to create a butterfly garden.

With $1,500, Arlie Boggs Elementary will complete an outdoor classroom.

Letcher Elementary School will expand its outdoor classroom and provide a field trip to Camp Nathanael with its $1,400 contract.

Letcher County Central High School received $1,500 to expand its outdoor classroom.

PRIDE awarded $134,275 to 94 schools, nonprofit organizations and other educators across southern and eastern Kentucky for the 2011-2012 school year. The contracts are worth up to $1,500 each.
