ARH is among top healthcare systems

Appalachian Regional Healthcare system has been recognized as among the best in the nation.

The ARH system has been named to the 2009 SDI IHN 100 listing of the most highly integrated healthcare networks in the nation. Published in the Jan. 26 issue of “Modern Healthcare,” the ranking, formerly known as the Verispan IHN 100, was conducted by SDI Health LLC, a nationally recognized healthcare data and consulting firm.

Integrated networks are graded annually on their ability to operate as a unified organization in eight categories: integration, integrated technology, contractual capabilities, outpatient utilization, financial stability, services and access, hospital utilization, and physicians. The ARH system offers services through its hospitals, clinics, home health agencies, pharmacies and the home delivery of medical equipment and supplies in Kentucky and West Virginia, giving patients the opportunity to receive the majority of their healthcare services close to home.

This is the fourth time in the past six years the ARH system has made the list. ARH is one of only two Kentucky integrated health systems to make the list and the only integrated health system in West Virginia to be named.

“While ARH has been providing integrated healthcare services to our communities for more than 50 years, we continue to improve our operations by putting better systems and technology in place to provide the level of care the people of Central Appalachia deserve to have available locally. We are pleased that our efforts have been recognized and the ARH system has been named as one of the 100 most highly integrated healthcare networks in the country,” said ARH President and CEO Jerry W. Haynes.

“Furthermore, our employees, medical staffs and all of those involved in the daily operation of all aspects of our health system should be very proud of this accomplishment,” Haynes added. “This recognition is a direct reflection of our their dedication and commitment to providing caring, compassionate and quality patient care as a unified team and bringing that medical excellence to each of the communities we serve.”
