ARH offer OK’d

Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) employees represented by the United Steelworkers (USW) voted Tuesday to ratify a new three-year collective bargaining agreement.

ARH President and CEO Jerry W. Haynes said employees ratified the agreement, which was tentatively agreed upon by ARH and the USW on March 17, after the parties worked diligently for several weeks to reach a negotiated agreement.

More than 2,300 employees are represented under the contract and work in a variety of areas and occupations at ARH, including clerical, housekeeping, maintenance, dietary, nursing, laboratory, respiratory, and radiology.

The collective bargaining agreement becomes effective April 1, 2010 and will run through March 31, 2013.
