Ashley Cook receives degree

Ashley Cook, of Mayking, is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, receiving a degree as a family nurse practitioner. She was also the graduate student speaker at College of Health Sciences’ spring commencement on May 12.

Cook plans to practice in the Whitesburg area, where she was born and continues to live and says she is committed to bringing quality holistic healthcare to rural Kentuckians. She and her husband, Maverick, have three children, Amirah, 6, Blaze, 2 1/2, and Adley, who will soon turn 1.

Cook was graduated from Whitesburg High School in 2005, and had practiced as a registered nurse in Pikeville Hospital and in Norton, Va.

She enjoys outdoor adventures, learning new things, and spending time with family and friends.

Her parents are Connie and Don Hogg of Kingscreek. Her grandmother is Ruth Frazier of Kingscreek.
