A 73-year-old Tennessee man died in Letcher County Sunday night after the all-terrain vehicle he was operating overturned and landed on his chest.
William Franklin Waples, 73, of Prospect, was bow hunting at Bull Creek when the accident happened. Letcher County Coroner Wallace ‘Spanky’ Bolling Jr. pronounced Waples dead at 9 p.m. on Sept. 12. Bolling ruled blunt force trauma to the chest as the cause of death.
Bolling said Waples was a retired jet fighter pilot who often visited Letcher County to hunt.
