Carl B. Banks (right) is the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award given by the Whitesburg Rotary Club. The award was presented by District Gov. John B. Adams on his recent visit to Whitesburg. The Paul Harris Fellowship, Rotary’s highest award, is named for Paul Harris, who founded Rotary in Chicago in 1905. The fellowship was established in his honor in 1957 to show appreciation for a Rotary member who contributes $1,000 to the club’s humanitarian and educational programs. The programs provide educational opportunities, food, potable water, health care, immunizations, and shelter for millions of people. Banks joined Rotary on June 30, 1992, and served as President in 2005-2006. He and his wife, Marsha, reside in Whitesburg.
