The opening reception for an art exhibit by a Lexington artist is set for 7 p.m. on Nov. 12 at Summit City in Whitesburg.
Enrique Gonzalez, a native of Venezuela, uses bright, vibrant colors in his paintings of animals, portraits, landscapes and Maker’s Mark bottles. The Amazon forest is reflected in the lively brushstrokes and tropical colors used in his artwork.
Gonzalez’s equine paintings portray horseracing scenes from Churchill Downs, Keeneland and the Red Mile.
Gonzalez said his portraits are not usually meant to depict specific people but are created rather from memory.
The award-winning artist has worked and lived in Lexington since 1994.
