Monday to Friday last week we were pleased to have the expertise of four brilliant and lovely folks from the MBA program at University of Michigan. Catherine O’ Donnel, Katherina Athanasiou, Hana Viswanathan, and Minsoo Lyo analyzed every aspect of our business. They took our recipes apart and conducted cost analysis. They presented their findings on Friday. They gave us a great compliment when they asked if we could come and start a business in their town because they loved the things we offer. Lol.

Friday after the Friday Night Supper Club they departed for the next destination in their “Open Road” program for the summer. We parted with gifts, tears, and well wishes. We will be about applying their insights and making Black Sheep Brick Oven Bakery more profitable and cost efficient. We are so thankful for these loving, helping hands.

We are thankful also for our friends and true partners at MACED for guiding these wonderful people to us. Thanks especially to Ketaki! There are those who give lip service to being our partners and then there are real partners like MACED.

The University of Kentucky sponsored two Diabetic Eligibility Screening Workshops with another one scheduled this week. We had a good turnout for both workshops and expect good turnout for the next one. Thanks, Jennifer, Billy June, Martha, and the other ladies who made this happen for the folks of our community!

The Digging Up Roots Ancestry Forum is meeting on Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Participants are really enjoying themselves. The next one will be held May 30.

Participants are invited to bring a laptop or tablet, and paper and pen. This will be a free bimonthly workshop offered courtesy of Jo Ann Hall Osborne. For more information, call (606) 855-4463.

We have converted Friday Nite Pickin’ to a supper club environment where folks can come and enjoy music while eating their evening meal from the fabulous Black Sheep Menu. We will have a featured local singer/songwriter every Friday. Come support local live music and community building efforts. Music on Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m.

You have an open invitation to come and hang out with us at the center when you can. We have Wifi now so kids and adults are better satisfied not being cut off from their electronic devices. We also have a playground and a walking track so bring the whole family for a visit. Regardless of differences in education, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, or perceived differences, all are welcome and will be treated with justice and friendship. It’s a hate free zone and you are invited! Come and linger among friends!
