Ballard Bentley rites are held



Ballard Bentley, 84, of Neon, died January 2 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born in Letcher County, he was a son the late William Payne and Nancy Stewart Bentley, and the father of the late Wilma Ann Bentley.

Bentley was a retired coal miner and a member of the Neon Church of Christ.

He was a brother of the late Mary Fleming, Marie Burkes, Helen Potter, Jessie Bentley, Walter Bentley, Robert Bentley, Elish Bentley, William Payne Bentley Jr., Bill Bentley and Wilburn Bentley.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Susie Bentley; a daughter, Gail Fleming of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two sisters, Millie Bentley and Bonnie Bentley, both of McRoberts; a sister-inlaw, Opal Bentley; five grandchildren, Amy Deal, Cindy Stewart, Steven Fleming, Shelly Fomby, and Rich Caudill; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held January 5 at the Neon Church of Christ. Burial was in the Haven of Rest Cemetery.
