Band concerts planned





Twenty-six Letcher County students have been selected to KMEA All-District Junior High Honors Band. The band will perform at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 26. at the Ramada Inn Carriage House of Paintsville. The concert is free of charge.

Students named to the band are:

Arlie Boggs sixth, seventh, and eighth grades: Andrew Mullins, Troy Dingus, Sara Maggard and Austin Hamilton.

Fleming-Neon Middle School sixth, seventh, and eighth grades: Samantha Houston, Ethan Davis, and Cody Hampton.

Letcher Elementary eighth grade: Alex Fickey.

Martha Jane Potter sixth, seventh, and eighth grades: Dalton Bates, Haleigh Belcher, Waylon Mink, Holly Baker, Lennie Holbrook, Drew Raleigh and Jeremiah Keel.

Whitesburg Middle School sixth, seventh, and eighth grades: Sydney Maxie, Amber Crawford, Caitlyn Bates, Brittany Whitaker, Austin Barton, Glenn Joseph, Felicia Bergh, Anthony Banks, Aaron Fields, Joel Murtaugh and Adam Howard.

The Letcher County Central Junior High Band will perform its annual spring concert on Sunday, April 19. The concert will be held in the LCCHS Auditorium at 1 p.m. and is free of charge. The concert will feature the advanced bands from Fleming-Neon Elementary, Martha Jane Potter Elementary, Arlie Boggs Elementary and Whitesburg Middle School. The public is invited to attend.

The Letcher County Central Senior High Band will participate in the Kentucky Music Educators Association Concert Band Festival on Thursday, April 23. This event will be held at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg and will feature bands from 10 surrounding counties. Each band will be judged on its concert performance. The LCC band will perform its annual spring concert at LCC in May.
