Barbara Jean Kegan Belcher, 86, of Rockville, Md., died November 5 of heart failure.
Born in Jenkins to the late Seth H. Kegan, Sr. and Margaret Nicholson Kegan, she was the widow of Curtiss Belcher, Sr.
Mrs. Belcher was graduated from the University of Kentucky with degrees in music and literature, and taught piano for many years in Kentucky and Maryland.
She directed and played piano for her church’s choir, and enjoyed painting, opera, and caring for her rescue dogs.
Mrs. Belcher was a volunteer for over a decade as the ticket sales director for the Rockville City Ballet and helped with costumes, and was the musical director for the City of Rockville theater program.
Surviving are a brother, Seth Kegan, Jr. and wife Alice of Jenkins; three sons, Roger A. Belcher and wife Dena, Thomas Belcher, and Curtiss Belcher, Jr., and wife Kimberly; a daughter, Sara Jane Proctor and husband William; and a number of grandchildren and siblings.
She was preceded in death by a son, John M. Belcher, and a sister, Betty Polly.
Memorial services for Mrs. Belcher will be held December 15 at 11:30 a.m., at Polly & Craft Funeral Home in Jenkins. Inurnment will be in the Wilson Cemetery in Elkhorn City.
