’Forever Plaid’ will be presented at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28 in the Jettie Baker Center at Clintwood, Va., by Barter Theatre.
The program is presented by Pro-Art Association, The University of Virginia’s College at Wise and Mountain Empire Community College as part of the Dickenson County Cultural Arts Series, and partially supported by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
‘Forever Plaid’ recalls a time when many parents and kids listened and danced to the same music, when families gathered in front of the TV to watch such variety shows as Ed Sullivan or the Perry Como Show.
It’s when the four-part guy groups harmonized their way across the airwaves, jukeboxes and hi-fi sets. They wore dinner jackets and bowties, or maybe cardigans and white bucks. Their sound crested just as rock ‘n’ roll became the heartbeat of music.
Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $6 for students.
