Barter Theatre to stage ‘Forever Plaid’

Barter Theatre will stage two touring performances in September, at Ben Hur, Va., and Pound, Va., of the musical “Forever Plaid”.

“Forever Plaid” features a setting in the 1960s and such memorable hits as “Catch A Falling Star,” “Sixteen Tons” and “Chain Gang.”

A group of young male singers, on their way to pick up tuxes for their first big gig, are broadsided by a busload of Catholic teenagers. The story begins there as the four fellows are given a second chance to perform the concert that never was.

The first performance is Thursday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. in C. Bascom Slemp Auditorium of Lee High School in Ben Hur, Va. On Sunday, Sept. 20, at 3 p.m., ‘Forever Plaid” will be staged at the Performing Arts Center adjacent to J.W. Adams Combined School at Pound. Va. Admission for each performance is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $6 for students.
