Hello everyone! Hope all had a good week. Ours hasn’t been the best.
We went to Tractor Supply at Wise, Va., on Thursday. This man came running in after us and said he knew us, said he lived right up the road from us. He said we always wave at him and his wife on fourwheelers. (We do wave at everyone.) He told us his name, which we did not recognize.
Anyway, he said his truck was broken down and he needed money up front before this guy would tow his truck. So being as trusting as my husband is, he loaned him the money.
He said soon as we got home at 2:30, he would bring the money down. Well, it never happened. So we think we were scammed unless the man had us confused with someone else.
So lesson learned. You cannot trust people anymore, or I guess the good way of looking at it is the Lord sent us to Virginia to give someone who needed it money. It would not have been so bad if it was just $10 or $20. Oh well, just be careful! Big Cowan
Glad to see a new writer, Letha Ann Dollarhyde, writing an article about Kingscreek Senior Citizens Center. I enjoyed reading it and am looking forward to reading more.
Tammy and Wayne Turner of Ingram’s Creek were married 29 years on Sunday, Nov. 6. Happy anniversary to them.
Earl Rayburn died one year ago on Nov. 5, and also Josh Fields died a few days before. All their family, friends and the community miss them.
Cathy Boggs turned 48 on Nov. 5 and Lisa Fields turned 47 on Nov. 5. Late happy birthdays to both of them.
Hope no one was late for church on Sunday with the time going back one hour.
I was able to view the International Space Center as it was passing by on Saturday night. It was really bright and to me it looked like a five-pointed star. It was awesome, as kids would say.
After I had the flu already I finally got a flu shot. Hopefully it keeps me from getting the flu again. My husband said he hadn’t seen my fly yet! Ha, ha!
Happy birthday to Paige Brown, who will be eight years old on Nov. 11. She is a sweetie!
Our son Chad and his wife Amber will be married eight years on Nov. 14. Happy anniversary to them! Hopefully they will be here for Thanksgiving.
Hager Trent will be 66 on Nov. 16. Hope he has a good birthday.
Lisa Selvidge will have a birthday on Nov. 18. Happy birthday to her. She will be 42.
Jim Howard Banks got out of the hospital on one day and his sister Atha Banks Fields went in on the next day. Keep both of them in your prayers and their families also. It seems like they have had to deal with a lot of sickness and heartaches lately.
Please keep everyone in your prayers this week. Attend the church of your choice. Be good to one another and God loves you!
