Every year the Whitesburg Rotary Club donates $500 to the Whitesburg Food Pantry. This year the club hosted a pancake breakfast and donated all the proceeds to the Food Pantry. On Dec. 2, the Whitesburg Rotary Club presented Geraldine McDonald, director of the Food Pantry, with a check for $2,000 the club raised from the pancake breakfast. Food City, IGA at Isom, Dairy Queen, and McDonald’s contributed to the effort. The Presbyterian Church made its kitchen and dining area available. Breakfasts were purchased and delivered as far as Hazard. Volunteers who work with the Food Pantry came in and helped with food preparation and delivery. WTCW and WMMT aired public service announcements on Rotary and the pancake breakfast, and The Mountain Eagle printed an announcement for the breakfast.
