We are having a benefit at the Campbell’s Branch old school building on Linefork from 2 p.m. till ? on Saturday, January 11, for Wanda and Kenny Whitehead, who had a very serious auto accident on December 29.
They are well known in lower Letcher County for all they have done including donations they have made to the community centers. Kenny works for Boggs Lumber at Dry Fork and Wanda works for the U.S. Postal Service. They are still in Pikeville Hospital and will be there for quite some time.
It is hard to lose one paycheck but losing two, that is unthinkable. No one can survive this without help from neighbors and friends. That is why so many want to help. They already have a musical lineup, but we need more musicians and all entertainers are welcome. Come show your support.
We will have food — soupbeans, onions, cornbread, stir-fry, chili. We need desserts. I know some wonderful bakers in our community, so we really need desserts plus some cakes for auction. Please help.
Th e music, auction and benefit will start at 2 p.m. and go till the visiting and donations stop. If you want to make a donation other than at the benefit, go to Whitaker Bank at 2378 Hwy. 15, Isom. Ask for Marcia. She is taking care of their bank account until they can do it on their own.
Please come out and help our friends. They would help us. That is what this community is known for, is helping their neighbors. Thank you and God bless.
