Brian Bentley, a teacher at Jenkins Independent School District, is a category winner for Best Educational Links in the Dataseam Best of the Best Teacher Website contest.
As a winner, Bentley earned an iPad for his classroom. He teaches seventh and eighth grade science and ninth grade earth science, and is the school technology coordinator. He is featured on the contest website, http:// www.dataseamcontest.com/ iPad_ Categories.html.
Bentley’s website includes a weekly blog, a Podcast entitled Virtual Field Trip to My Compost Pile, photos from labs and field trips, class syllabi, assignments and chapter PDFs. The win was for his list of educational links under his Resources Page, in which he lists more than 30 virtual labs ranging from Molecular Models, Newton’s second law, States of Matter, to Weather, Biomes, and Waves.
Dataseam is a Kentucky company placing computers in schools for classroom use. The student workstations are linked to scientist who use the processing power to do research. Researchers from the University of Louisville’s James Graham Brown Cancer Center have discovered several potential life-saving cancer drugs using the process.
