Funeral services for Bertha Sizemore, 103, of Neon, were held June 3 at Carty Funeral Home in Fleming- Neon. She died May 31 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born in Breathitt County, she was a daughter of the late William Isaac and Pearlie Burgett Hatton, and the widow of Alonzo Sizemore.
She was the mother of the late Charles ‘Chad’ Sizemore, Lonnie Sizemore, Anna Griffith and Louis Jean Sexton, and was a grandmother of the late Frank Sizemore.
She owned a restaurant in Neon during the 1950’s, had been a cook at Neon Grade School, and was a member of the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol Sue Hall of Neon; a son, Tommy Wayne Sizemore and wife Della of Newark, Del.; five sisters, Hazel Hart, Whitco, Dorothy Hatton, Delano, Tenn., Margaret Taylor, Granite City, Ill., Carol Sue Hick, Painsville, Oh., and Rebecca Hatton of Cleveland, Oh.; a brother, Elzie Ray Hatton of Ocee, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Wright Cemetery.
