Betty Jo Johnson, 81, died March 11 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born in Hemphill to the late Ira Lee and Polly Ann Hall Varner, she was the widow of Avery Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson was member of the Neon Church of God, and a volunteer for the East Kentucky Ministries.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Sexton and husband Ernie of Millstone, and Phyllis Looney and husband Bill of Mayking; a son, Bobby Joe Johnson and wife Jill of Pottersfork; four grandchildren, Kenny Potter, Andrea Yonts, Mistie Johnson and Kraig Potter; and six great-grandchildren, Kyra Johnson, Joby Johnson, Dalton Potter, Isaiah Potter, Aubrey Potter and Allie Rae Potter.
Mrs. Johnson was also preceded in death by six siblings, Georgia Collins, Maggie Duty, Billie Tolson, Robert Varner, James Varner and Calvin Varner.
Funeral services were held March 14 at Everidge Funeral Home in Whitesburg. Burial was in Haven of Rest Cemetery at Mayking.
