Beulah Back remembered as great teacher

My sympathy to the family of Johnathon Terrell Griffie of Elk Creek. He died home on Nov. 1. It was such sad news. My heart goes out to his mom Fawn, his precious little girl Carmen, and all the family. He was 29.

Happy birthday to Sue Kinner of Blackey. It is Nov. 12. Mary Gail Adams of Blackey has one on Nov. 13, Frank Campbell of Letcher has one on the 13th, and Reanna Caudill of Jeremiah also has one on the 13th.

My sympathy to the family of Beulah Back of Blackey. She died on Nov. 10 at Whitesburg Hospital. She was 88. She was one of my teachers in school and I think she was one of the best.

On Saturday, Nov. 20, from 5 to 6 p.m., there will be a Christmas bazaar at the Blackey Presbyterian Church with some great food. Then starting at 6 p.m. there will be an auction held and the proceeds will go for the food baskets that the church does for families at Christmas. Everyone is welcome. Please come out and enjoy.

Jim and Mary Flynn of Blackey spent some time last week in Boone, N.C. Mary said it was a beautiful, quaint town and they had a good time.

Just in case I don’t have any news for next week, I wanted to wish all my family and friends a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
