Bill Gibson to celebrate 105th birthday

Blackey

W.M. “Bill” Gibson of Rockhouse, will celebrate his 105th birthday on January 18. Bill was born in 1904. The family will celebrate his birthday at the Blair Branch Church on January 17 at 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to come by for cake and ice cream and just to say hello and wish Bill happy birthday.

Also celebrating a birthday soon is Gwen Christon of Redfox. Gwen’s birthday is January 19, and she always celebrates her birthday with Bill.

There was a mistake in my column last week. My great-niece, Emmaleigh Adams, birthday was on the 7th not the 13th and she turned 6.

Sympathy goes to the family of Stella Halcomb of Linefork, who died on Jan. 4. She had been sick for some time. Her son, Dudley Halcomb, and his wife, Jo, had just gotten back from North Carolina where they attended the funeral of Stella’s sister. Stella was 88.

Happy birthday to Mckenzie Miller of Roxana. It was on Jan. 10.

My sympathy also goes to the family of Zelphia Halcomb of Cornettsville, who died on Jan. 5. She was the wife of Fess Halcomb and the stepmother of Clara Riley of Red Star. Zelphia was 84.

There is a white Great Pyrenees dog that has taken up over here on Carcassonne. He is friendly, but sure eats a lot. If anyone would like to take him and give him a big place to run, you can call me at (606) 633- 0008. We cannot find the owenr.

I ran into Randy Gilley at Wal-Mart Friday. He lives in Floyd County now. It was nice talking to him. I went to school with his brother, Ricky, who lives in Tennessee now. They are the sons of Bruce Sr. and Shirley Gilley of Doty Creek.

I made a mistake with another birthday. Kylie Miller of Blackey will be 1 on Jan. 18, not the 19th. She is the daughter of Jai and Michelle Miller.

Carolyn Sue Walters of Elk Creek has been in Whitesburg Appalachian hospital. She has COPD and was having a lot of problems with her breathing. Carolyn is the wife of Mack Walters. I hope she feels better soon.

I had all the family over on Sunday at my home for my daughter Jennifer’s birthday. She turns 24 today (Jan. 14).
