Bill would fund gambler’s rehab

A legislative panel has approved legislation that could generate some $200,000 a year to rehabilitate compulsive gamblers.

Republican state Rep. C.B. Embry Jr. said the money is needed even if a proposal to legalize casinos in the state fails.

The House Appropriations and Revenue Committee gave the measure a thumbs up on Tuesday. It now goes to the full House for consideration.

Embry said the proposal is an important step toward helping more than 20,000 people in Kentucky who have been negatively impacted by gambling. (AP)
