Billy Fields, 67, was a retired coal miner

Funeral services were to be held in Cumberland today ( Wednesday) for Gordon resident Billy Darrell Fields, who died at his home December 1. He was 67.

Mr. Fields was retired after working 41 years mining coal for Flint Coal, International Harvester, US Steel, Arch Coal, Enterprise Mining, and Lone Mountain Processing.

He was a son of the late Stanley A.O. and Lorine Crase Fields. A member of the Nolan Lodge at Bledsoe, where he was 32nd degree Master Mason and a Shriner, he enjoyed fishing at Kingdom Come State Park, driving through Little Shepherd Trail, and making knives.

Surviving are his wife, Karen Miniard Fields; one son, Stanley Fields and wife Katina of Partridge; two daughters, Chastity (Michael) Day and husband Michael of Richmond, and Tressany Howard and husband Gavin of Cowan; seven grandchildren, Braxton Fields and wife Kylie, Sawyer Fields and wife Taylor, Avery Day, Haley Howard, Jonah Day, Garrett Howard, and Lainey Howard; three brothers, Roger and wife Cilla, Rick and wife Louise, and Tim and wife Dinah.

Funeral services were to be held at noon at Tri-Cities Funeral Home. Burial was to follow in the Big Joe Cornett Cemetery in Gordon.
