Birthday parties held at Eolia Park

Eolia

Greetings from the hills and valleys of Eolia and Eolia Christian Community Outreach.

Be content with such things as ye have. Hebrews 13:5

We were happy to meet and welcome Kevin and Christy Thacker from Pikeville to our Bible study. Kevin is a minister and taught from the Book of Revelation, asking us “What do you think heaven will be like?” There were 12 people present, and as you can imagine there were some interesting answers. Christy has a ministry where she teaches classes to teenage girl on abstinence. We appreciate Kevin and Christy coming such a long way to join us and look forward to their return.

Ray and Sharon Bird invited us to the Eolia Community Park for a wiener roost. We were also joined by other ECCO volunteers as Ray served up footlong hot dogs, potato salad, watermelon and I brought a strawberry shortcake. Two birthdays were being celebrated and the park was packed. One party was leaving just as we got there but the other was going strong with a large family gathering complete with a rock band.

We were delighted to learn it was a birthday party for Junell and her twin sister, Rosell. That made two birthday parties for Junell. We gave her one at ECCO and her family surprised her with another at the park. She seemed to be having the time of her life dancing along with family and friends.

Tony and I visited Curt Sturgill at Britthaven Nursing Home. Curt is looking good and expects to make a full recovery. We will continue to keep him in our prayers.

Thought for the day: “The grass may be greener on the other side, but it still has to be mowed.”
