Black ice causes Dorse Back to wreck

Blackey

I haven’t had any news to put in so a lot of my news is about two weeks behind.

Carrie Cornett of Letcher, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington and had surgery to have tumors removed. She was in about two weeks and she had to back on Monday for her checkup. She is sore but doing better.

Happy birthday to Tiffany Back of Knott County. She was 16 on Feb. 1. She is the daughter of Jessica Bolling and the late Eric Back of Elk Creek.

My uncle, Dorse Back, was involved in a minor car wreck about three weeks ago. He was on his way back from taking his daughter, Sarah, to Lexington where she lives. He hit black ice and ended up in the ditch on Hwy. 7. He hurt his back. He had Zachary Back with him but he is okay.

My sympathy to the family of Doris Watts of Linefork. She died last week at the Pikeville hospital.

There are quite a few February birthdays. Happy birthday to Brandon Boggs of Whitesburg. It was on Feb. 3. Stephine Pennington Eldridge of Blackey, had one on Feb. 3. Jenny Dixon of Carcassonne has one Feb. 4, Heather Bates Vice of Blackey had one on Feb. 3, and a late happy birthday to Hanna Whitaker of Linefork. It was on Jan. 31.

Martha Burns of Blackey went to Paducah to attend the funeral of her brother, Wayne Dixon. My sympathy to the family. I think Martha was down there when the ice storm hit. From what the news showed it was bad and we were lucky in this area.

Tommy Whitaker of Blackey, was put in Hazard Hospital with heart problems he was able to come home.

My parents, P-nut and Jean Blair, went to Prestonsburg where Dad had a doctor’s appointment. They are sending him to Huntington, W.Va., to have a ultrasound on his neck to make sure the blockage hasn’t come back. Everyone please keep him in your prayers that his test turn out okay.

Clell Riley of Red Star, hasn’t been feeling well lately. I hope he feels better soon.

Happy birthday to Layne Henrikson of Carcassonne. It’s on Feb. 14. He is the son of Adam and Misty Henrikson. His grandparents are Doug and Edna Stamper of Crases Branch and Jon and Loretta Henrikson of Carcassonne. He was having his party at the skating rink in Hazard.
