Black ice leads to broken arm

Northeast Ohio

Note: This is going to be a short one and sadly, it’s only bad news. Dec. 10, Emma Lou Engle slipped on ice and broke her arm. She was scheduled to have surgery at the Cleveland Clinic on Dec. 15.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to have her article ready to send before the accident. I’m not sure she’ll be up to it next week either. She does love The Mountain Eagle, and I’m positive it won’t be long before she is back at it.

I’m a bit handicapped right now, so I have a new secretary, my son Billy Wayne is taking dictation.

I had an encounter with a patch of black ice Thursday morning and broke both bones in my right arm at the wrist and will have surgery Tuesday to repair it, so this will be a short article.

We are downsizing this Christmas. We went from a tall tree that you have to stand on something to place the topper, to a four-footer on a table.

Red’s sister Nina had hip surgery Thursday night in Pikeville, and we haven’t heard yet how things are going with her.

Red has talked to his brother, Charles, his sister, Jean, and niece, Carleta, on Thursday and Friday.

It’s cold and windy here, a little sprinkling of snow here and there.

I didn’t get all my Christmas cards ready, so if you don’t get one, you know why.

I will dictate more next time when I am feeling better. Wishing all a great day.

Love and prayers, Emma Lou Engle, 4801 Clifton Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44055. 440-233- 7548. emmalouengle @yahoo.com, emmaengle @aol.com.
