It was a weekend of hard work and great fun for the Black Sheep crew. On Saturday we catered wedding receptions for two lovely couples very dear to our hearts.

Malcolm Wilson and Amy Asher were joined in marriage in a beautiful ceremony at their home in Blackey. We were pleased to serve there and be a part of their beautiful special day. Congratulations, Amy and Malcolm! We love you guys. Thanks for all your support!

Lana Johnson and Tom Cornett had planned to be wed on Little Shepherd’s Trail and to have the reception at our place. Because of the rain they decided to have their nuptials at Hemphill Center/ Black Sheep Bakery. It was our first bakery wedding. Congratulations, Lana and Tom! We love you and thank you for making us a part of your special day.

On Sunday we were tired but happy from the labor of love and reciprocity we had engaged in all weekend. No finer thing than to work hard and then finally to rest with a smile on your face thinking of the smiles of others you’ve been privileged to serve. We are thankful for this.

The Digging Up Roots Ancestry Forum is meeting on Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Participants are really enjoying themselves. The next one will be held May 30. Participants are invited to bring a laptop or tablet, and paper and pen. This will be a free bimonthly workshop offered courtesy of Jo Ann Hall Osborne. For more information, call (606) 855-4463.

We have converted Friday Nite Pickin’ to a supper club environment where folks can come and enjoy music while eating their evening meal from the fabulous Black Sheep Menu. We will have a featured local singer/songwriter every Friday. William Caudill and Boyd Davis will be with us on Friday. Come support local live music and community building efforts. Music on Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m.

You have an open invitation to come and hang out with us at the Center when you can. We have Wi-Fi now so kids and adults are better satisfied not being cut off from their electronic devices. We also have a playground and a walking track so bring the whole family for a visit. Regardless of differences in education, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, or perceived differences, all are welcome and will be treated with justice and friendship. It’s a hate free zone and you are invited!! Come and linger among friends!!!
