The Blackey Improvement Committee Blackey Day Festival 2014 is just a memory now, but a good one. Although we had some rain it did not dampen the crowd or the fun everyone had.
The music was the best ever and the last band that played brought the house down. Long Shot can play for me anything.
But all the music was really good, and the booths that did show up really impressed me with all their homemade items, especially the woodwork. That always amazes me what some people can do with a piece of wood.
But the craft booths were awesome and the food booths were great. We had some new ones this year that were great, and did a fantastic job. We hope they will come back next year, all of them.
The silent auction was the best this year, I think ever. There were so many nice items and we had so many merchant and personal donations that I can’t mention all of them in my article in the paper.
All of the Blackey Improvement Committee thank everyone who donated to our festival. Without your help it wouldn’t happen. We have the best working committee ever. Everyone strives to make this little festival the best it can be, and it shows.
We are always grateful for the crowd we have. We had people come home to Blackey from Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Alabama, Florida, and South Carolina. That’s not bad for a little festival, but we are grateful for everyone who came and everyone who helps in any way.
We look forward to Blackey Day Festival Oct. 9 and 10, 2015. Plan now to be there.
