Don’t forget Blackey Day is Friday evening, Oct. 12, and Saturday Oct 13. The committee has worked hard getting everything ready and by the events they have planned, I’m sure it’s gonna be a fun weekend. Everyone come and enjoy being with family and friends.

My heart goes out to the family of Rhonda Hatton Hudson of Mallie, formerly of Blackey. She died on the 1st. She had been in hospice care in Hazard for awhile. Rhonda had cancer. My sympathy to all the family. She was 52.

Brunner Caudill of Linefork had to have surgery on his lungs in Pikeville last week. I wish him the best.

There will be a concerned persons group starting on Oct. 22 at the Blackey Library, which is on a Monday, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The group is for those who want to help someone close to them enslaved by the stronghold of a life-controlling problem. The purpose of the group is to encourage and strengthen each group member in God’s love. For more information, you can contact Diane Caudill at 634-7742 or Susan Jent at 335-2232.

My daughter Jennifer and I took my grandson Kaleb to the fall festival held at the Calvary College campus last week. He had such a good time. I got to meet some of the people from Calvary and they are such nice people, so thanks to them for having the event and to Letcher Fire and Rescue. They are always there at these events for the kids. They gave them fire truck rides and hats.

Happy birthday to Camden Miller of Blackey. He turned 3 on Oct. 2. He is the son of Jai and Michelle Miller and has an older sister, Kylie. He is the grandson of Billie Miller and Fred Dixon and the late Lenora Marie Dixon, all of Blackey.
