Blackey seniors on the move

Our Blackey seniors have been busy. We have had our potluck dinners. We always have good food, and plenty of it, and a good crowd. We have also taken many trips.

We went to Virginia recently and shopped around at different stores, Kmart, etc. We had dinner that time at Kentucky Fried Chicken, and either we were hungry or it seemed to be really good this time.

We fixed four big boxes for the food drive and took them to Whitesburg.

We attended the Senior Prom at Kingscreek. We had a very nice dinner, and they prepared it very nicely.

The teenagers who were visiting us at Calvary from Alabama and also spent three days at our center, attended the prom and were amazed that old people were having a prom. Did I say old? They danced and had a real nice time and clean fun. There was also a talent show.

Our Tommy Timble won first prize with his George Jones song, “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” He gets a lot of requests to sing that song.

There was a mistake on the first-place winner. Carl Parrott won King. He’s the grandfather of Eddie Ison, who is married to my granddaughter. Everyone signed in as they went in, and the winners for King and Queen was drawn out by a random drawing. It was a very enjoyable day. Everyone looked so nice.

That’s all for now, I’ll leave you with this saying:

“My Wish for You.” I wish you all life’s happiness/ and every lovely thing./ With days of golden sunshine/ and with years of endless spring./ I wish you love abundantly/ that never seems to cease./ Your daytimes filled with laughter/ and your nights with gentle peace./ To never feel the pain of want/ to have the best of health./ May sorrow never cross your door/ your purse be great with wealth./ But most of all I wish you this/ the greatest wish there is./ That God will ever bless you/ and will ever call you His.

For all seven Letcher County Senior Citizen Centers.
