Blackey seniors visited by teenagers

I would like to report on the Blackey Senior Citizens Center. We have done quite a few things since I last reported.

First, I would like to comment on our supervisor, Vickie Collins. She is nice and we all love her. She mixes with all the seniors and is the best cook ever. Her helper, Rose, is also.

We have taken several trips to Wise, Va., stopping at places. We ate out, and we went to Hazard and shopped. Everyone likes Captain D’s. We stopped at places of concern.

We also went to Hazard to the college for a program. The seniors put on a program, and it was really good. I have seen teenagers who could not perform that well. There were a lot of homemade items, which were painted and framed, and were rewarded blue ribbons.

We went to Camp Nathanael on April 16, and it was a very nice day and we had a good dinner.

Recently we had a group from Texas Varsity Calvary Campus come down. We had a Bible study, painted bird houses, made pretty wreaths, and played Bingo with nice gifts. They enjoyed us, as well as we, them. It’s so wonderful to see teenagers caring for the things that matter most in life.

We had some sickness in our seniors programs; some were in the hospital, some had surgery. We have one in Lexington now, who has had a stroke.

I would like to ask prayer for Linda Jones. Everyone loves her dearly.

We have had visitors the past few months, and we’d like to invite you to come visit with us. We have a potluck dinner on the third Wednesday of each month. You are welcome to visit with us. I hope I have mentioned everything. God bless America.
