Kingsport, Tenn., bluegrass band John Goad & the New Hawkins County Grass will perform in concert at the Letcher County Central High School auditorium on Friday, April 10. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door, and children 12 and under are admitted free. Concessions will be sold during the concert. Proceeds from the event will benefit the LCCHS tennis team.
John Goad & the New Hawkins County Grass has quickly become a regional favorite in the Tri-Cities area of east Tennessee and southwest Virginia, playing hard-driving, modern traditional bluegrass. Bandleader John Goad is a graduate of East Tennessee State University’s renowned Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Studies program, writes for online music news magazine Bluegrass Today, and represents the Print, Media, & Education constituency on the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Board of Directors. The group’s first album is set for a late spring release, and the debut single, “Regina,” can be heard on radio stations nationwide.
