Bobby Joe Ritchie buried in Virginia




Bobby Joe Ritchie, 75, of Jackhorn, died April 13 at Letcher Manor Nursing Home in Whitesburg.

Born in Banner, Va., he was a son of the late John and Pearl Williams Ritchie. He was a member and former president of the United Mine Workers and was a retired Bethlehem Steel coal miner. He was also a member of the Church of Christ, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was married to the late Fern Little Ritchie, and was a brother of the late Gene Ritchie, Hershell Ritchie, Edward Ritchie, and Vernon Ritchie.

Surviving are a daughter, Connie Johnson and husband Roy, Jackhorn; a brother, Charlie Ritchie, St. Paul, Va.; and a grandson, Noble “Nickey” Joe Johnson, Jackhorn.

Funeral services were held April 15 at the Neon Church of Christ. Burial was in the Edwards Cemetery at Sandy Ridge, Va.
