Boys’ streak ends

The Letcher Central Cougars saw their five-game winning streak snapped in the opening round of the two-day, three-game Hyden Bank Christmas Tournament Dec. 19.

After missing several free throws in losing to Meade County 43-40 in the opening game, the Cougars rebounded to hammer winless Red Bird 70-31 Dec. 20, and then followed that up with a convincing 57-46 win over the host Leslie County Eagles Saturday evening.

Meade County won all three games to raise its record to 9-1 while Leslie County dropped to 7-5.

LCCHS, now 7-2, will be heading south to the Sunshine State to participate in the three-day KSA Disney ESPN Wide World of Sport tournament in Orlando, Fla., beginning Saturday, Dec. 27.
