Brandi Amburgey has new baby boy

Blackey

Congratulations to Brandi Amburgey of Whitesburg on the birth of her son. Jerry Blayne Amburgey was born on Jan. 29. He weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces, and was 20 1/2 inches long. He has an older brother, Brayden. His grandparents are Jerry and Linda Amburgey.

A late happy birthday to Gaye Back of Elk Creek. It was on Feb. 2.

Happy birthday to Ruth Ann Brown of Jeremiah. It was on Feb. 6.

My sympathy to the family of Dennis Johnson of Carbon Glow. He died suddenly on Feb. 9 of a heart attack. His wife, Tessie, has been sick for some time now and he took care of her. Tessie’s blood pressure dropped really low and she put in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Bristol Va. Her blood pressure had come up, but she was still in the hospital when they had graveside services for Dennis.

My sympathy also to the family of Thelma Cornett. She died Feb. 10. She was in Letcher Manor Nursing Home. She was the mother of James Cornett of Burnside. Thelma was a charter member of the Blackey missionary Baptist Church.

Happy birthday to Kharmin Slone of Whitesburg. It was Feb. 9. She is the daughter of Jack Johnson of Letcher and the late Janet Johnson of Letcher.

My sympathy to the family of Benton Back of Letcher. He died on Feb. 11. He had been sick for awhile. He was 95.

We were lucky enough over here to not have the damaging wind from the storm last Wednesday, but we lost our power from Wednesday evening till Thursday evening.

My son, Justin, and his friends, Cody Adams and Johnny Branham, went to Lexington on Saturday to Rupp Arena for a concert by Slipknot, Trivium, Coheed and Cambria.

Elijah Caudill of Blackey went to Knoxville, Tenn., to have a physical so he can check into joining the Air Force. He is the son of Judy Caudill of Whitesburg and Tim Caudill of Blackey. I wish him the best of luck.

Dare Back of Letcher had to be taken to the emergency room on Friday night. She was not feeling well and they said she had an infection.
