Hunter Allen Branham, a 2014 graduate of Jenkins High School, was presented with the 2013-2104 Rotary Club of Whitesburg annual scholarship of $1,000 during a recent Rotary meeting.
The scholarship is given on academic achievement, community service, participation in school activities and financial need.
Branham is attending Morehead State University majoring in nursing and plans to complete a master’s degree in nurse anesthetist.
While attending high school, he was a member of the Interact Club, National Honor Society and Beta Club. He served as a Pee-wee basketball coach/ referee, member of Operation UNITE, and two-time Mountain Heritage Ambassador and assisted with the Imagination Library literacy program.
During the summer of 2013, he was selected as a Governor’s Scholar. He ranked first in his graduating class and received dual credit for advanced placement classes through the University of Pikeville.
