Jason Brashear is the newest Extension agent at the Letcher County Extension Service in Whitesburg.
A native of Cornettsville, he was active in 4-H and participated in livestock and poultry judging, the Avian Bowl, and forestry as a teenager. He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture with a degree in agricultural education. While in college, he practiced with the university’s livestock judging team and was involved in the Ag Education Society.
He became the 4-H agent in Bell County in 2004, where he developed programs to involve 3,200 young people in 4-H projects.
Brashear plans to implement many of the same programs here in Letcher County, including “Our Appalachia”, and livestock, poultry, and horse projects.
