Breakfast to mark life of Martin Luther King




The annual celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the form of the Community Diversity Breakfast will be held at the Benham School House Inn on Saturday, Jan. 15. The event is sponsored by Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College and will feature as its keynote speaker Lynch native and nationallyrenowned educator, Dr. Jerome ‘Ronnie’ Ratchford.

Dr. Ratchford was among the first class to enroll at SKCTC in 1960, and is expected to speak about his experiences at the college and how the education received there has had a positive impact on his life over the past half century.

He is the eldest child of Otis and Louvenia Ratchford.

He is a graduate of Lynch West Main High School, Southeast, the University of Kentucky (bachelor’s degree in education), Indiana University (master’s degree in counseling and guidance), and Bowling Green State University (doctorate in educational leadership).

He is on the faculty of Kennesaw State University in Georgia and has held teaching and administrative posts at Talladega College, Emory University and Lincoln University.

The breakfast buffet will be priced at $8.45 for adults and $4.25 for children under the age of 10.
