My husband Lee Roy and I went to the Bristol, Tenn., NASCAR race Aug. 21, and it was my first and last time. It’s too crowded and you walk for miles to get to it. It’s way too loud, and I couldn’t hear good for a week.
We neither one want to go to one again. Five hundred laps of nothing. Very boring.
Get well wishes to Rob Campbell of Letcher, who had a stroke about a month ago and is not doing too well. His son Frank said he has partial paralysis on his left side and slurs when he talks. I hope he gets better soon. He is now in the nursing home.
My sympathy to the family of Roger Hayes of Blackey, who died Sunday, Aug.29. His wife Renavae just died about three weeks before him. My heart goes out to the family.
A late happy birthday to my niece, Shanna Adams of Carcassonne, on Sept. 4.
A late happy birthday to Sierra Walters of Carcassonne, who turned 7 Sept. 3. She is the daughter of Jessica Maggard and the stepdaughter of Anthony Barrett, and has three sisters, Kyla, Destiny and Jalynn. She had a Hannah Montana party.
Happy birthday to Mae Fugate of Carcassonne Sept. 6, and happy birthday to her daughter, Loretta Henrikson, Sept. 7.
Joshua Dixon of Carcassonne, eastern Kentucky’s rising star, has won the go-kart and sprint races for the last three Saturdays at Mountaineer Kartway at Isom. Everyone come out and enjoy. He is my nephew, and his parents are Terry and David Dixon. We are all very proud of him.
