Cajun country musicians Joel Savoy, Jesse Lege & the Cajun Country Revival will appear in concert Thursday (Oct. 18) at 8 p.m. at Summit City in Whitesburg. The show is presented by the Pro-Art Association of Wise, Va., and Appalshop.
Comprised of multitalented musicians from across North America, the Cajun Country Revival plays music with a joyful spirit that ensures an audience will have fun.
Fiddler Joel Savoy has been a driving force in the current Cajun renaissance. Founder of the multi- Grammy-nominated label Valcour Records and the acclaimed Red Stick Ramblers,
Savoy is equally at home playing the old twinfiddling of Cajun masters like Dennis McGee as he is playing swing or honkytonk.
Taking the stage with him is Cajun legend Jesse Lége on accordion and vocals. An expert on the Cajun accordion and an excellent singer, Lége has won many music awards from the Cajun French Music Association. He was recently inducted into the Cajun Music Hall of Fame, and he’s written songs that have become standards in the traditional repertoire.
