Cakes are enjoyable birthday presents

Big Cowan

Late happy birthday wishes to David ‘Jr.’ Boggs, who turned 63 on Sept. 11, and a happy 65th birthday to Tommy Fields on Sept. 26.

We’re all the ‘older generation’ now that our parents are gone.

Also, happy birthday wishes to all of the Pack children and extended families this month. I hope all of you enjoy your day.

I have been busy baking cakes for family members’ birthdays. I couldn’t afford gifts this year, so I decided to bake them a cake instead, and they seemed to enjoy it.

My husband and son went to the car show Saturday afternoon, and they en- joy that. I am looking forward to the Heritage Festival. I like looking at the different crafts and eating some of the food when it’s not too expensive.

Ricky Dobson, wife Stacy, and two of their nephews were down here from Indiana on Saturday to see Tony Maggard and other relatives. Sorry I missed you guys. Ricky is the son of Audrey (Maggard) Dobson Hammonds and the late Gene Roy Dobson. Audrey and Charles Hammonds will be down toward the end of September for a class reunion, providing their health is OK.

My aunt and uncle, Irene and Eugene Day, sent out supper the other night. It was a big plate of chicken livers, but I was afraid it was mountain oysters, and believe me, I was careful with every bite. I picked through them and smelled of them. Everyone laughed at me, but I was afraid she would slip one over on me. Oh well, we have to have fun and laugh or life would be miserable.

I hope everyone cleaned up their mess after the car show. All I heard when we drove up town to pick Mike up was lots of loud music, and people yelling and sitting around all over the place.

It was hard to get in and get gas and then get back out. For those who like that, I’m glad you had a good time, but it looks like the city streets will have to be repaved because of all of the scratches (maybe not).

I hope everyone has a good week. Remember each other in prayer and attend the church of your choice.

Acts 2:38: Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
