To the Editor:
This is to inform all coalminers and those who worked around coal that we are having a rally April 9 in Pike County. Everyone is welcome to attend.
This rally is for several reasons — to honor all miners, past and present and to bring awareness to the fact that we need something done now about jobs. Also to bring awareness to laws that are unfair to miners, including Black Lung.
We will meet at Shelby Valley School on US 23 at 11:30 a.m., leave the school at Noon and drive US 23 to the Pikeville Riverfill in town next to the Department of Labor in the BB&T Bank.
We will have speakers, a balloon release for past and present miners, raffles, hot dogs and water.
The Pikeville School band will play, the Kentucky Coal Miner Black Lung Group will be there also, and the Black Lung Association of Southeastern Kentucky will be there.
Come and show your support and let those watching us see that we need things done now!
If you have any questions, we have a Facebook page: KY Coal Miner Black Lung.
