Here are some quick updates on the Carcassonne Community Square Dance and related events and people.
I have failed to arrange an October square dance at Blackey Day or Carcassonne. We still plan a final fall square dance at Carcassonne from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, and a “Good Luck to Carcassonne” square dance at Cowan Community Center’s “Christmas on the Creek” on Friday, Dec. 13. All are invited. Please come out.
I want to add a few “couples” to my list of thank you’s: big men Jimmy Haynes, who has done much good work for and from Carcassonne, and Richard Smith, who helped much with his painting, prints, notecards, and t-shirts of the center, and two couples who met at the square dance, one recently, Maggie and Will Bowling, farmer-dancers from Clay County who have offered to put together a good Facebook page for us, and a quarter century ago, Sandy and Tim Maxa, who is coming back from Iowa with one of their daughters to preach at the centennial celebration of the Blackey Presbyterian Church at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 19. Thanks be to God. Please come out.
