Caudill family welcomes new baby boy

Some of my news is a little behind. It sometimes takes a couple of weeks to get enough to put in.

Clell Riley of Red Star, had to be taken to Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital a few weeks ago. He has cancer and was not doing well. He was put on a ventilator for a few days but is now off it and is doing better.

Virgil Combs has been home from a hospital in Lexington. He came home about two weeks ago. He had a rough time but is doing a little better.

Bruce and Rita Gilley and Barb Campbell went to Indiana to visit with Barb’s sister, Shirley, and other family members. They are now back home.

Congratulations to Michelle and Steve Caudill of Carcassonne, on the birth of their baby boy. Gabriel Demetrius Alvie Caudill was born on July 18. He was early and only weighed 4 pounds, 6 ounces and was 17 1/2 inches long, but both mother and baby are fine. She has been in a hospital in Lexington for a few weeks now. She was told if the baby keeps doing well she should be home in a few weeks.

B.J., Shanna, Miss Em and Gavin Adams of Carcassonne, went to Tennessee. They wanted to take Miss Em to Dollywood before she starts kindergarten this year.

My family, Lee Roy, Jennifer, Justin, Kaleb, and I, went to Sapphire Coal Company’s annual picnic this year on Saturday at Isom. We had a good time but it was a little too hot; they need to have it around fall. Later we had a get-together for my son, Justin’s, 18th birthday and also for my nephew, Joshua Dixon’s, 19th.

Happy birthday to my greatniece, Ava Golden Abbinanti. She turns 6 on August 13. She is the daughter of Jessica Dixon and Craig Abbinanti and the granddaughter of Terry and David Dixon of Carcassonne and Janice Reed of Whitesburg. She had a Hannah Montana party at the Blackey Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday. And happy birthday to her Granny Terry. Hers is on August 15.

The annual Caudill Memorial at Red Star will be held on Saturday, August 23 beginning at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome and please bring a covered dish.

There was a baby shower held on Saturday for the newest family member of Matt and Melanie Gilley. His name is Taylor Matthew he has a sister, Katelyn.

My sympathy to the family of Jeff Mitchell of Red Star. He died last week. I had heard he had been sick for awhile.

Late happy birthday to Jerome Baker of Doty Creek. It was on August 9.
