Caudill memorial meeting is Aug. 23

I seem to have had an uninformative week this past week. Not much I can remember to write.

Our Letcher Area Homemakers group met after having the summer months off. We got together at Carr Creek Lake for a planning meeting and late potluck brunch. Not everyone could make it, but those who did enjoyed some good food and fellowship. I am glad I remembered at the late minute.

This past weekend was meeting time at Blair Branch. Only a small crowd was in attendance on Saturday evening’s business meeting, but the church house was almost full on Sunday and we were blessed with a good meeting.

The land is all leveled out, and it looks so different at Isom where the new Dollar Store will be built. Soon work will begin on the building and a few jobs will be available, too.

A reminder about the Caudill memorial meeting at Red Star on August 23 at 5 p.m. Everyone is invited and bring a covered dish for the potluck dinner afterward.

The 23rd will also be the fundraiser taco salad dinner at Blair Branch Church. Proceeds go to help out a cancer patient during her medical treatments.

Happy anniversary to Richard and Libby Smith, Darryl and Stephanie Boggs and Daniel and Kayla Adams, who all celebrated since last week’s paper.

Juanita Mccrarey, Mom’s sister, and her daughter, Deborah, have spent a few days at the old Jeremiah homeplace. It’s always good to have family back at Granny’s house and good to see them.

Alana Jo Couch and her husband came by came by my shop on Saturday and I was glad to hear that her dad and mom, Allen and Sylvania Whitaker, had both had good doctor checkups recently. They are well loved throughout the area.

Arnetta Mae Slone, Lana Pridemore and Glenna Faye Quillen and I think Pam Blair all spent a couple days in Michigan visiting family. Said they got to see many kinfolks and enjoyed their time there, but no place like home, according to Lana, who was missing the grandsons.

We visited at the nursing home after church Sunday, and spoke with so many neighbors and loved ones who are patients there. We saw many others checking on patients, too.

Evangene’s daughter, Viola, was in visiting with him and Arizona.

That’s all for this week. Maybe more next time.
