The annual Caudill memorial service at Red Star will be held on Saturday, August 25, beginning at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served after the graveside services. Everyone is welcome and please bring a covered dish. Be sure and mark it on your calendars.

Lorene Halcomb of Alabama, formerly of Carcassonne, had a stroke on Monday night and then died on Wednesday evening. Lorene had been sick for awhile. My sympathy to all the family. They brought her back here for the funeral and burial. She was 78.

Happy birthday to my niece Jessica Dixon. It was on August 23. It is also the birthday of my nephew Gary Fugate. They both live on Carcassonne.

Wesley Dixon, the son of John and Jenny Dixon of Carcassonne, got to come home again on Wednesday. He was not doing well at all but thankfully he was able to come home and is doing better.

Danny Caudill of Red Star is doing some better. He has had a couple of stokes in the last few weeks and was put in Letcher Manor Nursing Home. His daughterin law Charity Caudill said he was able to eat some on Tuesday for the first time. I hope he keeps getting better.

My parents Pnut and Jean went to Lexington on Tuesday. Dad had some places removed, but the one on his face they said may be skin cancer. We are all praying that it’s not.

Happy birthday to Joe Back of Blackey. It was on the 18th.

My sympathy to the family of Danny Cole of Linefork. He died at his home Friday, the 17th. He had lung cancer.

My dad Pnut and Jimmy Bates of Whitesburg went to a VFW convention in Louisville. They left on Friday and came back on Sunday evening.

We had a birthday gettogether for my sister Terry Dixon and friends Julie and Jaimie Sparks. They all had birthdays close together this month. We had cake then a wiener roast and then s’mores. We had a fun evening. I really enjoy getting everyone together as much as possible.

Vada Rogers of Blackey had to have surgery last week. She spent a couple of days in the Whitesburg hospital but is now home and doing better.

Danny ‘Hoot’ Campbell had to be taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington. He had a lung collapse and was in ICU. They are hoping he can come home this week and that they will be able to put him on the list for a lung transplant. I wish him the best.

There was a balloon release at the Whitesburg walking track Sunday, August 18th honoring Travis Morton who would have been 18 years old on August 18.

Happy birthday to Jina Back of Woodrock. It was on the 16th. Tyler Rowe of Blackey turned 17 Aug. 17. He is the son of Randall and Rosemary Rowe.
