Channell sings with choir

Lauren Channell of Jenkins will perform with the Eastern Kentucky University’s vocal ensemble at the University’s annual Madrigal Feastes December 7-8.

The Feaste, which recreates 16th century English madrigal dinners, is now in its 37th year at EKU. Guests enjoy a sevencourse meal, during which the 25 members of the University Singers entertain with light Christmas selections. Following the meal, the Singers, accompanied by faculty and student instrumentalists on period instruments, present a concert consisting of familiar madrigal selections from leading composers such as William Byrd, Thomas Morley, John Dowland, Orlando di Lasso and others.

The University Singers, an auditioned ensemble of which Channell is a member, is the premier mixed chorus on the EKU campus. It performs the finest repertoire from all historical periods and presents several concerts throughout the academic year. Though comprised mainly of music majors, membership for the touring choir is open to qualified students from all degree programs across the Eastern campus.
