Charles Ann Mullis visits from Florida


My son Justin and his friend Jaimie Sparks and her son Logan went to Michigan a couple of Fridays ago to visit with Jaimie’s sister Jessica Sparks and go to Jessica’s twin girls’ Kameran and Kaydance’s second birthday party. They turned 2 on the 12th. They came back on Sunday evening.

Virgil Combs of Carcassonne had a bad week. He was having trouble breathing. His wife Freda said he is now feeling some better.

Happy birthday to Sarah Back of Elk Creek. It is on Nov. 2. Sara Pineyard Creighton of Ohio has one on the 1st. She is the daughter of Junior and Mary Sue Pineyard of Jeremiah.

Mallory Eldridge of Whitesburg had a birthday on Nov. 2, my niece Ashlee Morgan of Whitesburg had one on the 4th, and her dad Randy Morgan of Isom has on the 11th. Shilon Morton of Carcassonne had one on Oct. 20.

Charles Ann Mullis, formerly of Blackey, was in recently from Florida. She stayed in for a few days and spent time with old friends. She had a nice trip.

Congratulations to Amber Barrett and Mario Rikle of Keokuk, Iowa on the birth of their baby boy. Mateo Andrew Rikle was born on Oct. 11 and weighed 8.5 pounds. The grandparents are Tina Barrett of Carcassonne and Annabelle Weber of Iowa.

Brandon Blair has been in visiting from Illinois. He stayed with his mother Rhonda Fields and his sister Britanny Blair and her family of Dry Fork. He stayed about a week. Happy birthday to Brandon; it’s on Nov. 5.

My mom Jean stopped by and visited with Jo Halcomb of Ulvah the other day. She is doing well and they had a nice visit. She also had recently gone up in Elk Creek and visited with Gerldine Blair and forgot to tell me about her birthday, so late happy birthday to Gerldine. It was on Oct. 16.

Congratulations to Tillie and Wallace “Spanky” Bolling of Blackey on the birth of their baby girl. Callie Ann was born on Oct. 27 and weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces. She has an older brother, Gavin. Her grandparents are Wallace and Mary Bolling of Knott County.

Heather Bates Vice of Blackey and Jonathon Hootman are teaching yoga in Whitesburg now. It’s called North Fork Yoga, so good luck to them. She invites everyone to check them out. The classes will be held every Monday night at the Harry M. Caudill Library from 6 to 7:15 and Thursdays at the Cowan Community Center from 6:30 to 7:45.

There will be a yard sale held next to the Isom BP on Saturday Nov. 7 and all the proceeds will go for the medical bills for Travis Morton. He had a brain tumor a few years ago and now it’s back. He is in the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and he has been so sick. The sale will be held rain or shine. Everyone is welcome and if you have anything you would like to donate, it would be appreciated. He is the son of John and Melody Morton.
