Charles H. “Charlie” Holbrook, 90, died April 7 at his home in Jenkins.
A son of the late George Washington Holbrook and Cora Ann Mullins Holbrook, he was the widower of Laverne Kincer Holbrook.
Mr. Holbrook was also preceded in death by three sisters, Geneva Phillips, Clara Sue Holbrook and Mary Elizabeth Holbrook, and two brothers, Bill Holbrook and Crate Holbrook.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was retired from Beth Elkhorn Coal Company, where he was a United Mine Worker of America member.
Surviving are a son, Charles Holbrook, Jr., and wife Vicki of Jenkins; a grandson, Christopher Ryan Holbrook and wife Jeana of Payne Gap; two great-grandchildren, Riley Paige Holbrook and Grayson Lucas Holbrook; a sister, Mildred Marcum of Payne Gap; three brothers, Eddie Holbrook and wife Claudia of Rutledge, Tenn., Frank Holbrook of Payne Gap, and George Holbrook, Jr.; and two caregivers, Brenda Adams and Berneda Polly.
Funeral services for Mr. Holbrook were held April 10 at Polly & Craft Funeral Home in Jenkins. Burial was in the Laurel Fork Cemetery at Payne Gap.
